Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Project Based Learning integrated with Lampung culture in Indonesian language learning at the junior high school level, particularly through a project in which students interviewed a traditional leader about the value of nemui nyimah. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted through the pre-cycle stage, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The subjects of the study were eighth-grade students of SMPN 3 Natar, South Lampung. Data were collected through observation, pre-test, post-test, classroom learning process observation, documentation, and project assessment. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and verification. The results showed an increase in students’ learning activities from 56.25% in the pre-cycle to 70.31% in Cycle I and 87.50% in Cycle II. The average learning score increased from 64.20 to 73.40 and 82.60, while learning mastery improved from 43.75% to 68.75% and 87.50%. The quality of students’ project products also increased from 72.50 in Cycle I to 85.30 in Cycle II. These findings indicate that Project Based Learning through interviews with a traditional leader can make Indonesian language learning more active, contextual, and meaningful while strengthening students’ understanding of nemui nyimah as part of Lampung local wisdom.
